almotamar.net - SANAA- Prime Minister Abdulqader Bajamal on Saturday discussed with tradesmen and food industrialists in Sana’a instability situations of food supplies that occurred with the advent of the holy month of Ramadan especially concerning the price rise of some food commodities that demand has risen at the beginning of the fasting month or those stuffs which were affected by world prices or the crisis of their supply in the local market. The prime minister’s meeting was attended by the ministers of industry and trade and agriculture and irrigation; Dr Khalid Rajih Sheikh and Dr Jalal Faqierah.

The meeting reviewed results of continued meetings held during the last days by the government and the private sector as well as teams of joint work formed for studying the situation scientifically and soundly. Aims of the meetings are to avoid instability in the market and prevention of elements of exploitation and greed that inflict harm on interest of the homeland through cheating in prices and monopoly.
All participants in the meeting agreed supply stability and prices of goods on basis of interests balance of all parties of productive, marketing and consumption operation.
The meeting agreed on taking the following measures:
1-Mills should be operated with their full capacity ands there must be no refusal of importation or storing or grinding as that would cause damage to the consumer.
2-Prevention of any sort of monopoly resulting from stockpiling or delayed agencies or delay in the process of supply with the aim of influencing competition in the market.
3-all private companies and public institutions have to continue contracting in a way guaranteeing to provide enough storages of goods.
4-The State Authority of Specifications and Standardizations has to practice its full authority in monitoring weights, measurements, packaging system and quality specification.
5-The ministry of industry and trade and its branches in the governorates, local authorities and councils and the consumer protection society should monitor supply, price and quality stability and fighting commercial or industrial cheating.
6-Operation rooms in the governorates have to exercise daily monitoring of the movement of supply and prices in accordance with their tasks and submit daily reports and situation evaluation.
