By: almotamar.net - DHAMAR - A number of the Islah Party's leaders in the province of Dhamar have set off on a campaign across Dhamar districts and villages urging locals to pay zakat to charitable associations and use part of it to support resistance in Lebanon and Palestine, a well-informed source told almotamar.net.
The source described as "dangerous" the practices of theses associations which undermine one of Islam's pillars, that is zakat payment, and try to pocket one of the main revenues of the State's Treasury.
The source attributed such malpractices to those leaders' ignorance of national interests and their efforts to compensate the money spent on the election campaign of the Joint Meeting Parties' candidate.
Moreover, the source called on government authorities and clerics to counteract such anti-Islam conduct as Muslims are ordained to pay zakat to the State's Treasury.
The source noted that those leaders are trying to deceive people especially villagers when they claim that the State does not pass the levied zakat on to those deserving it and that it ends up in the hands of the corrupt.
"They ignore billions drawn from the State's Treasury to cover the expenses of the local security network and other charitable organizations," the source commented.
