almotamar.net - SANAA-Prime Minister, the Secretary-General of the General People’s Congress (GPC) Abdulqader Bajammal said the government was scheduled to discuss from last Saturday in an extraordinarily the new package of comprehensive reforms in the light of the election platform of president Ali Abdullah Saleh who insists on it, adding “ We are in a real state of emergency at the present and we shall give ourselves a space of time until the day of the Eid to complete it and present it to the president in its final form.”

On president Ali Abdullah Saleh’s declaration of war on corruption and self-interested, Mr. Bajammal made it clear in an interview to Alayyam daily published on Saturday that the law on fighting corruption, with its articles and controls, is lodged at the parliament and it is one of many laws, in addition to the law on carrying weapons, the law on tenders and the financial law, these laws will be the priority in the coming discussions of the parliament an as for the law of tenders it is now there and includes an independent body for tenders. He added that the law would be put to discussion in details on Saturday and Tuesday and will be submitted to the parliament, saying there are detailed indications on tenders as important and necessary as directory understood by the contractor, the lawyer, the interested person, the employee, the judge and all the people.
The GPC’s secretary-general appraised the election process held on the 29th of September 2006 as recorded a real change in the history of contemporary Yemen and rather history of the democratic life in Yemen. He said the Yemenis have recorded a big pride for themselves at the levels of the region and the Arab world. He added “ we presently witness serious setbacks in the Arab world and see cases of confusion I the democratic pursuit in general and rather in the process of governance,” considering that the Yemenis present tendency affirmed originality of the Yemenis as actually owners of consultancy and democracy. They have confirmed they have deep feeling in the political work and strong sense that the life of stability cannot be realized but via a democratic operation guarantees for them better life and more beautiful future.
On the JMP loss in the local elections on which it has put its wager and threaten the GPC with them, Bajammal said “ This is a continuation of an old deceit which I know through talks with the JMP over more than six months of meetings and I know the form of maneuvers and means of submissions as well as the directions,” adding “ we have worked in politics for 43 years and I have not seen any party or organization whatever its tactics were as naïve as the thinking and tactics as I have seen with the JMP,” calling on leaderships of the JMP after its loss in the presidential and local elections to think first of the leadership crisis where they have found themselves after results of the elections. He clarified we do not doubt that each of them has a leadership crisis and tries to throw things in another way and give them another color. Mt. Bajammal attributed the reasons of the GPC’s sweeping of most of the areas of the republic to the understanding of the sons of every area which party is more proper for serving them especially that each area has its circumstances and peculiarities and its general national stand. He said for example in Aden the parliamentarians of the Islah party did not offer anything. On the contrary all Aden’s projects are not adopted the representatives of Aden at the parliament and what is strange about the matter is that others do adopt those projects in the parliament whereas the Aden bloc in the parliament is supposed to come out with a political ideology in favour of Aden, though it is true the bloc represents the nation, but they should give an importance to the people of their city first.
