almotamar.net - SANAA-Almotamar.net learnt Friday from government sources that the government of Yemen decided to exempt more than 20 Lebanese publishing houses’ publications from customs duties. Publications of those houses have been shipped to Yemen for taking part in the Yemeni exhibition organized in Sana’a by the ministry of culture next week in support of the Lebanese book.
An official source at the ministry of culture told almotamar.net that government instructions were issued in this regard to customs inlets in Yemen, indicating that the ministry will pay those duties instead of the Lebanese publishing houses. By this move Yemen is expressing its solidarity and support for culture, the book and publishing houses of Lebanon, which had been destroyed during the during the latest Israeli aggression on Lebanon, especially the southern suburb of Beirut.
The ministry of culture is preparing to open an exhibition of the Lebanese book on Monday and lasts from 6 to 15 of this month. The ministry organizes the exhibition in support for the Lebanese publishing houses that were exposed to destruction during the latest Israeli war of aggression on Lebanon.
The minister of culture Khalid Abdullah al-Ruwaishan had told almotamar.net the exhibition that is held under patronage of President Ali Abdullah Saleh reflects Yemen’s stand regarding the war on Lebanon which targeted the most outstanding Arab cultural establishments.
