By: almotamar.net - SANA’A- The website of 22 May Newspaper has published the first comments by a Yemeni official on the statements of al-Qaeda that claimed responsibility for Sept. 15 attacks on oil facilities in Hadhramout and Marib governorates, describing the threats ascribed to al-Qaeda as “worrying”. “But we are sure of the effectiveness and ability of the Yemeni security authorities to confront any terrorist attempts”, the official said.
Reuters said yesterday that Al Qaeda's wing in U.S.-allied Yemen claimed responsibility for September 15 attacks on oil facilities in the Arab state and vowed more strikes against the United States and its allies.
According to Reuters, A U.S. intelligence official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said analysts were working to try to verify the authenticity of the posting.
"We know there is now some sort of organization that calls itself al Qaeda Yemen," the U.S. official told Reuters. "We think they've been trying to get this up on a Web site for awhile."
Last September, the Ministry of Interior announced it foiled two terrorist attacks on oil installations in Hadramout and Marib governorates.
