Almotamar.net - The political advisor to the president of the republic Dr Abdulkarim al-Eryany called Wednesday on government and non-governmental establishments and the civil society in general to be aware of the danger of the phenomenon of children smuggling and trafficking so that to be able to encounter them.
Attending a premiere show of cartoonist film “Ahmed Return” produced by Showtheb Establishment for Childhood in collaboration with the American embassy in Yemen and the UNICEF Dr al-Eryany said despite this is a world phenomenon it has invaded Yemen in the late years and it is important to be attentive to it at an early stage.
He said the responsibility is not only that of the state and the government but rather in the first place on the society and the family, clarifying that whatever the circumstances are difficult and hard that does not be an excuse for squandering our children and leave them to those who trade with them.
Al-Eryany affirmed the state awareness of the problem of smuggling children, pointing out that there are measures taken about that and of their results is the return of some children to their families. He stressed that civil society organisations concerned with children affairs have to comprehend the significance of the phenomenon of children smuggling and its ramifications and to look for successful solutions to uproot it in Yemen.
The film reviews conditions of a Yemeni child whose father pushed him to travel abroad after he was convinced with viewpoint of a person working as child smuggler that the child will work for helping the child and fir gaining money. But soon those illusions evaporated when the father discovered that the pushed his son to perishing by depriving him of maternity and childhood as well as his realizing of the dangers and tragedies that the child could be exposed to for losing life and its merits.
