almotamar.net - The government of Dr Ali Mujawar presented Tuesday to the parliament its program for the covering the period ending at the parliamentary elections in 2009.
The parliament decided to postpone the government program until Thursday after heads of parliamentary blocs open their deliberations started by head of the General People's Congress (GPC) Sheikh Sultan al-Barakani. Al-Barakani deemed it a good omen that the government program was finished in a record of time not exceeding one week, expressing his optimism in carrying out the tasks included in the programme during the upcoming two years with the same speed with cooperation of the parliament members and describing the programme as clear and credible and expected implementation of the programme with its different parts especially the economic aspect which is the biggest concern, according to al-Barakani;s expression. He also called on all the forces; government and opposition to agree on the goals and to keep away from wrangles but he explained that differences in mechanisms and means are a normal matter.
On the other hand the head of Islah partite bloc Abdulrahmnan Bafadhl said he does not feel optimism in the government as most of the ministers are from the former government pointing that the programme lacks of figures and timetables and challenged the government to restore prices to what they were before formation of the new government.
Head of the Yemen Socialist Party Aidarous al-Naquib said the programme contained good wishes we have heard four years before from the government of Bajammal, maintain that since then unemployment and poverty increased and services and security deteriorated. He described the economic reforms as patching up processes and confined to liberation of prices and the government abandonment of its economic and social obligations and demanded for comprehensive reforms beginning with the political field.
Member of the Wahdawi bloc at the parliament Abdullah al-Maqtari focused on the financial aspects of the programme, urging for reforming the general budget of the state and departing the policy of treasury bonds and to separate the budget of the state from the central bank.
For the independents bloc MP Nasser Arman expressed wishes of cooperation with the parliament and implementation of its recommendations as well as answering questions of MPs within the legal spaces of time and to deal with the questions of thigh prices and monopoly but he praised the clarity of the programme.
