almotamar.net - State minister, the Mayo of the capital Sana'a Dr Yahya ak-Shuaiby revealed Saturday that the mayoralty has filled with earth more than 10 old cesspits and the remainder is unknown because there are no maps indicating their location. The Mayor was commenting to almotamar.net on the incident that happened Saturday of a car sank deep inside a cesspool today in Sana'a where a woman died and another person was injured. He said it happened that he has passed with his family in his car on the place where the incident happened tens of times without realizing that underneath it there is an old cesspit.
The Mayor said the municipality throughout the past five years filled with earth more than 10 thousand of similar old cesspits and the present time there are disputes with families having cesspits in front of their houses and they refuse to fill them with earth.
He added that a plenary meeting to be held on Sunday convening the Mayoralty and the ministries of public works and roads and that of waters and environment to discuss the issue of random cesspits spread in streets and residential areas of the capital.
He said the meeting aims at locating places of cesspits to be filled with earth especially that now there is no need of them because there is a network of sewage in addition that the cesspits are old and mostly not used.
An Iraqi woman, thirty years old, died in the incident of today and another one was slightly injured in her leg after the fall of their car into the cesspit because of a sudden caving in of the street in Hadda in the center of Sana'a.
