almotamar.net - Yemen's minister of legal affairs Dr Rashad Ahmed Rassas expressed on Wednesday his astonishment over the Desert Line Company projects publishing in the media some of messages addressed to the president of the republic on the case considered by the centre of settling investment disputes of the World Bank.
The minister considered the company's action as an attempt to deform the judicial; and legal facts concerning the dispute between the ministry of public works and roads in Yemen and this company.
He has made it clear the company refused carrying out its commitments ruled by the Yemeni arbitrators and restricted its acceptance to the financial side that concerns it although the company itself is the side that resorted to arbitration inside Yemen. According to the minister the contradiction of the company’s stances on ruling of the Yemeni arbitrators by accepting some of its and refusing the other part that led to an agreement on reaching an amicable settlement as the director of the company authorized one of his relatives to sign the settlement and he signed it that authorization in the presence of the Omani judiciary and the Omani foreign ministry.
The minister has meanwhile criticized the company's violation of the international norms by talking to the media about the subject at t a time the case is still being considered by a local or foreign judicial side, deeming that as an offence to the company itself rather than to Yemen.
The Yemeni minister affirmed that Yemen will not stand hand folded against anyone trying to resort to methods aimed at blackmailing Yemen.
