Almotamar.net - President Ali Abdullah Saleh received Saturday the visiting deputy Assistant of the US state Department for Economic Affairs.

The meeting discussed issues and subjects related to bilateral relations areas of cooperation and preparations underway for convening the Future Forum in Yemen next September.

The meeting also discussed regional and international development of common interest especially developments in Iraq, Lebanon, Somalia, and the Iranian nuclear file.

The US official praised the level of the American Yemeni relations, confirming the United States keenness to enhance and develop them. He also pointed out the positive results achieved in the latest visit to the United States by President Saleh and the successful talks he held with President George Bush and officials at the American administration.

The visiting American official clarified that President Bush has confirmed his commitment to support Yemen in all economic and military and other areas. He pointed out that holding the Future Forum in Yemen emphasizes the status and appreciation Yemen receives as a result of steps it has taken in the democratic area and freedom of press, reforms, the woman participation and fighting terror and corruption.

The meeting was attended by the American ambassador to Yemen.
