Almotamar.net - The US ambassador to Yemen informed the Yemeni government Sunday on the decision of his government of raising the volume of its support allocated to the programme of development in Yemen in the upcoming period in the light of Yemen's efforts in the process of comprehensive reforms emphasized during the Yemeni president visit to Washington last month.
During his meeting with the Yemeni Prime Minister Dr Ali Mujawar today the US ambassador Thomas Kreisky emphasized his country's support for the Yemeni government efforts in the economic and developmental areas.
The announcement ton the decision of the American administration come two days after a meeting between president Ali Abdullah Saleh in Sana'a with deputy assistant of the US State Department for economic affairs.
Meanwhile the report of the US State Department has praised Yemen's adoption of a national strategy for reform that achieved progress in fighting corruption and development performance and independence of judiciary as well as expanding information freedoms as Yemen has witnessed in this area a sharp drop in attacks on journalists who criticise the government, describing the presidential and local elections held on 20 of last September as historic step of democracy in Yemen.
The Yemeni prime minister discussed with the American ambassador aspects of cooperation for supporting efforts of the Yemeni government in the economic and developmental areas and its new orientations in founding institutional frames for fighting corruption and confirmation of transparency in government tenders and biddings at both central and local levels.
The prime minister also pointed out the steps for completing procedures of establishing the higher body on fighting corruption and the higher national committee for tenders and its role in enhancing monitoring and accountability. He also referred to the government programme for poverty alleviation and curbing unemployment as well as providing the necessary climate for attracting investments to all sectors
