Almotamar.net - Secretary General of the Cultural Bridges Forum Jamal al-Awadhi said Sunday the preparatory meeting for declaring the establishment of the Arab Democracy Movement and its charter is to be held in Sana'a on 13-14 this month. Prominent thinkers and democracy activist from more than 17 Arab countries are skedaddled to trace part in the meeting.
Al-Awadhi told almotamar.net development of democracy is not just a conference here or there and now it is time for an actual activation of the role of Arab civil society organisations and change it into a historic activity in the development of democracy process.
He considered the preparatory meeting of the Cultural Bridges Forum, chaired by Dr Abdulkarim Al-Eryany, as distinguished initiative taking place for the first time. The Yemeni civil society is scheduled to declare establishment of an Arab democracy movement as well as a charter for democracy as a large umbrella for in the region for organisations active in the democratic affair.
Chairman of the Cultural Bridges Forum Dr Abdulkarim Al-Eryany said in previous statements the Arab charter for democracy will become an Arab document as an ambitious project to breathe life in future of the democratic project and to provide integrated strategy for dealing with the file of democracy development in the region. Al-Eryany pointed out that the Yemeni project received great support from leaders of the Arab civil society organisations during more than one conference held in Doha and Amman.
