Almotamar.net - President Ali Abdullah Saleh affirmed Thursday that democracy and what it dictates of the freedom of opinion, expression and press and frankness is the alternative to conspiracy, coup, underground work and frictions leading to violence and chaos.

During his meeting with participants in the founding meeting of declaration of the Arab League of Democracy and the Arab Charter for Democracy currently held in Yemen president Saleh said " Democracy is today an indispensable necessity and it is the choice of the present age that must be adopted and meet its dues. It is better for us in the Arab world to build democracy out of our peculiarity and needs of our reality and our peoples and have to benefit from any successful democratic experiments in our Arab region instead of being imposed on us by a foreign side."

The president blessed the results reached at the founding meeting of the Arab League for Democracy, and announcing the Arab Charter for Democracy. The president announced that Yemen will adopt the call for establishing an Arab charter for democracy through the Arab League.

President Saleh reviewed Yemen's experiment in pluralist democracy, clarifying that many things are learnt from democracy everyday and it is the means for revealing mistakes and aspects of dereliction and spots of corruption through the pres practicing of criticism and disclosure of mistakes and negatives. He said that in turn leads to draw attention to those mistakes and to work for overcoming them.

President Saleh said at the beginning some people in our society were getting annoyed from criticism directed to them but gradually they got used to it as part of the democratic practice any many things were rectified. "Thus everyday we teach much from democracy which developing and shooting deep roots in our society," the president added.
