Almotamar.net - The specialised Criminal Court in Yemen began Sunday trial of a defendant accused of possessing and circulating a sum of $31 thousand he brought with him from the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In the court sitting chaired by Judge Radhwan al-Nimr the general prosecution presented the charge that included accusing the defendant Adnan Abdullah Nassr Ahmed of possession of an amount of forfeited $ 31 thousand of $100 banknotes after bringing them into Yemen through Hardh crossing two weeks ago and began to spend it.
According to the charge the accused was caught at Hardh crossing and with him was a sum of $20 thousand after he managed to spend $11 thousand of the amount.
The general prosecution demanded sentencing the defendant in line with the punishment stipulated in the law and a member of the prosecution presented reasons of the accusation and the evidence proving it.
On asking the defendant on the charge against him he said the accusation was not true ands the money was his own and not forged, asking the court to postpone his trial until to be able to retain a defence lawyer.
The court decided to postpone the session until next Saturday so that the defendant will retain a lawyer to defend him.
