almotamar.net - Meetings of the training course of leadership of organisational work and the woman activity of the General People's Congress (GPC) in the capital were concluded Wednesday. The course was organised by Al-Mithaq Institute for Training, studies and Research on 25-28 November 2007.

The closing programme of the training course included a lecture delivered by Dr Khadija al-Haisami, professor of political sciences at Sana'a University and member of the GPC General Committee. Her lecture was under the title of The Political Right of the Woman. At the beginning of her lecture she presented a brief account on the historical background of the Yemeni woman participation in the political life throughout history. She touched on the subject of the woman political participation in Yemen in general, pointing out the political rights of the woman internationally and locally that the Yemeni republic constitution has guaranteed and that witnessed legislative and legal developments under the Yemeni unification.

Dr al-Haisami praised the support and interest of the political leadership and the GPC rendered to the woman that has been embodied by resolutions and recommendations adopted by the 7th General Conference represented in expanding the woman's participation in the representative and elected bodies and definition of 15% of seats for the woman in addition to increasing empowerment of the woman in assuming ministerial, diplomatic and leading posts at the state establishments.

On his part Dr Awadh Bashrahil, Deputy Chairman the GPC's Organisational Monitoring Authority included in his lectures the importance of the organisational monitoring and its role in developing the organisational work. He reviewed the types of watching in general, pointing out the importance of organisational monitoring as a body specialised in watching the organisation and political commitment and vitality of the process of the communication and regularity of relations and contacts of both horizontal and vertical formations of the GPC base and the leading formations of the party.

The deputy Head of the Organisation Office Abdulrahman Jahaf has pointed in his lecture to means and methods of contact and communication as well as coordination and joint action among the GPC formations.

The training course was concluded with a lecture delivered by Abdulqawi al-Shamiri, Deputy Head of the Office of Intellect, culture and Information. The theme of al-Shamiri lecture was the role of the organisation formations in developing the media performance and creation of enlightened public opinion. He talked about role and importance of information in the organisational work and the role assigned to the party in improving and developing the media performance.

He has pointed out that development and improvement of the media performance is a responsibility not confined to just the media means but rather a responsibility of all the party formations, in the leadership and the base because they are an important source for providing the media instruments with accurate statements, information and statistics due to their organisation and executive positions.

Al-Shamiri touched on the role those formations should play in taking part in the intellectual, cultural and information activities that are held official and by the party as well as the civil society organisations and the popular in order to represent the GPC and highlighting of its stand and viewpoint regarding the issues tackled in those activities.

He also clarified the picture and the way of the formations would contribute as leaders of the public opinion to improve the message of the mass media of the GPC.
