almotamar.net - Differences that rocked the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) in the capital on Thursday caused the ousting of the opposition JMP's executive committee chairman. The JMP includes the Yemen Socialist Party, the Yemeni Congregation for Reform (Islah) Party and the Nasserite Unionist Organisation.
Sources told almotamar.net that Mohammed Awadh al-Harbi, a leading member in the Nasserite Organisation has tendered his resignation after failure of the JMP leaders in organising the a festival the JMP had announced to hold on Thursday in the capital at the Democracy Square in Sana'a.
The sources added that failure of the proposed festival was caused by a strong dispute between leaders of the leftist YSP and the Brotherhood-oriented Islah party.
The leadership forth Islah insisted on postponing the date of the festival until further notice and that was faced with refusal of the YSP leaderships that considered that move as violation of what was agreed on.
The Islah website announced in a news item published Wednesday a call by the JMP in the capital for holding a speech festival to be held at the Democracy Square.
The website quoted Mohammed Awadh al-Harbi as saying that the JMP in the capital would organise a mass and artistic festival marking the British colonialism evacuation from the south of the country, 18th anniversary of signing the unity agreement and the 2nd anniversary of the JMP announcement of its programme for the comprehensive national political reform.
The site said during the festival al-Harbi was going to deliver a speech for the JMP, the MP Zaid al-Shami, was to deliver the speech of the JMP bloc at the parliament, Dr Jamil Awadh to deliver a speech for mass organisations in addition to the speech of the Higher Council of the JMP.
Journalists who were present at the festival location to cover the event were surprised by departure of the deputy head of the Islah bloc at the parliament from the festival's site after receiving a contact from an unknown source.
According to the sources the spokesman for the JMP Mohammed al-Sabri tried to contain the situation by making a number of contacts with the leaderships of Islah and the YSP but all his attempts failed to solve the situation.
