almotamar.net - President Ali Abdullah Saleh begins on Monday a state visit to Turkey where he would hold talks with his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul and on 27 of this month President Saleh is to hold talks in Berlin with the German Chancellor Angela Merkel, in response to her invitation to the President for visiting Germany.
President Saleh's talks with President Gul would be focused on issues related to ways of enhancing and expanding fields of existing cooperation between the two countries besides discussion of developments in both regional and international arenas.
In this regard the Planning and International Cooperation Undersecretary Eng. Hisham Sharaf Abdullah affirmed Friday that during the President's visit there will be signing of six agreements, memos of understanding and protocols of cooperation between Yemen and Turkey in the area of air transport and renewal of the agreement of cooperation in health in addition to signing of an understanding memorandum for cooperation between the two countries in agriculture field. He added that there will be signing of three protocols between the foreign ministries of the two countries and the Yemeni planning and international cooperation and the Turkish agency for cooperation in addition to a protocol for exchange of digital documents and manuscripts between the Yemeni and Turkish ministries of culture.
Me Sharaf added that during the visit President Saleh and President Gul will sponsor a large meeting convening businessmen from both countries to discuss opportunities of investment in Yemen and Turkey and active means for strengthening the two countries cooperation in trade and investment.
President Saleh's visit to Turkey enjoys a special importance as it comes in context and in translation of the Yemeni diplomatic orientations, calling for creation of more rapprochements and openness in the Arab-Turkish relations and to stabilize the recent political variables in Turkey I order to urge Ankara, which is connected with relations of military cooperation with Israel, for more rapprochement with its Arab and Islamic surrounding.
On 27 of this month President Ali Abdullah Saleh will hold official talks with the German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the beginning of the President's visit to Federal Germany in response to an invitation extended to him by the German Chancellor.
It is expected that the President's talks with the German Chancellor and senior German government officials would encourage Berlin to raise the ceiling of the German development support to Yemen and strengthen the political relations of the two countries.
The President's visit that will be permeated with holding a large meeting between businessmen in Yemen and Germany represents an occasion for reviewing opportunities of investment in Yemen under the interest shown by German trade and investment firms in knowing the nature of the opportunities by visits made by German trade delegations to Sana'a during the two past years.
