Almotamar.net - Yemen parliament Speaker Yahya al-Raie affirmed Saturday that the parliament would in the next period work for approving a number of laws, especially the law for organizing carrying weapons. He said the law would be approved in its final form "but we are waiting for the minister of interior to discuss the law with us."

Al-Raie, an interview with 26 September newspaper, added, " We are in the parliament with prevention of carrying weapons and with taking strict decisions preventing importation of weapons and weapons importation is not allowed but by the state and to close the doors in this regard. Since the state has taken its measures in preventing the carrying of weapons problems and attacks on lands were reduced and the cities have become secure. "

On the subject of preparation for the parliamentary elections scheduled in Yemen in April of 2009 the parliament Speaker affirmed that the parliament would confine its work to election of the Supreme Commission for Elections when the political parties reach an accord on it. As for preparing the national arena for the elections it is a joint responsibility shouldered by all political parties.

Al-Raie added that when there is no accord by the parties on the formation of the election commission the parliament would have become obliged to work according to the constitution and the law and according to the powers bestowed on the parliament. He said id there would be an agreement outside the parliament "we will bear it and work according to it."

Almotamar Net - Doctors use the word “crisis” to describe the point at which a patient either starts to recover or dies. President George W. Bush’s Iraqi patient now seems to have reached that point. Most commentators appear to think that Bush’s latest prescription – a surge of 20,000 additional troops to suppress the militias in Baghdad – will, at best, merely postpone the inevitable death of his dream of a democratic Iraq. Yet as “Battle of Baghdad” begins, factors beyond Bush’s control and not of his making (at least not intentionally) may just save Iraq from its doom.
