Almotamar.net - The Syrian President Bashar Assad on Wednesday praised Yemen’s efforts exerted for restoring the Palestinian unity that were culminated by the Yemeni initiative for healing the rift.

Those remarks came when the Syrian resident received a message from President Ali Abdullah Saleh dealing with brotherly relations and areas of cooperation between the two countries and means of enhancing and developing them.

The Yemeni President’s message conveyed by Director of the Presidency Office, the Head of the National Security Apparatus Ali Mohammed al-Anisi during a meeting with the Syrian President in Damascus, dealt with developments of current Arab situations, particularly the situations in Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon and Somalia as well as results of the latest Arab summit held in Damascus. It also dealt with efforts for healing the Palestinian rift in the light of the Yemeni initiative as well as the ways for strengthening Arab solidarity.

During the meeting there was discussion of the two countries’ cooperation relations and ways of enhancing and developing them in all areas in favour of joint interest of the two countries and peoples.

On the other hand the Russian President Vladimir Putin has on Wednesday received a written message from president Ali Abdullah Saleh dealt with bilateral cooperation and ways of enhancing and developing them in various fields. The message was conveyed by Yemen’s Foreign Minister Dr Abu Bakr al-Qirbi to his Russian counterpart Surgey Lafrov in a meeting in Moscow today. The message deals with regional and international developments of common interest.

Meanwhile a meeting of Yemeni Russian talks was held in Moscow Wednesday chaired by both countries’ foreign ministers. The talks touched on issues of common interest and bilateral relations on economic. Political, cultural and security sides and ways of developing them by benefiting from the historical heritage of this relation in the manner serving common interests of both countries and peoples.

The two sides discussed trade exchange and encouragement of Russian investment in Yemen especially in the field of energy and infrastructures and development of trade relations, expanding them and exchange of different visits and activities.

The two sides also discussed cooperation in military, security and scientific areas. They also discussed the regional and international situations, expressing their keenness on continuation of the peaceful approach for solving differences and activating dialogue of civilizations and cooperation in fighting terror through uprooting its springs and causes, among them unemployment, poverty and injustice. They stressed the necessity of the rich countries assisting the poor nations.

On the Arab Israeli conflict the Russian side renewed its support to the Yemeni initiative for healing the rift between the movements of Fatah and Hamas and ending the Arab Israeli conflict. The two sides called for the establishment of the independent Palestinian state on its national soil according to the resolutions of the international legitimacy and the Arab initiative for peace.

The two sides stressed the importance of discarding violence and the importance of accord among all parties and national forces in Iraq and Lebanon and preserving their unity, security and stability.

The two sides affirmed the necessity the international community cooperation in Somalia.

On the situation in the Gulf region the two sides expressed the importance for development of security strategy in which all countries of the region take part along with refusing the resort to violence for solving disputes and the right of every country to poses nuclear energy for peaceful and development purposes under monitoring of the international community. The two sides expressed satisfaction over identicalness of viewpoints on all regional and international issues and their pursuit towards stability, security and peace in the region and activation of the UN and the Security Council role for serving the issues of environment and security and achievement of justice, facing rise in prices of foodstuffs and its negative impact on poor countries. That would lad to more poverty and creation of climates of extremism and violence.

The Russian side praised the tangible role of the Yemeni leadership and its role for reconciliation among parties of conflict in Somalia and its work for stability of the region and staving off the ghost of wars in the Horn of Africa. At the end of the meeting the two parties held a press conference and the Russian foreign minister affirmed that the Yemeni Russian relations would see great development in the near future.
