Almotamar.net - Israeli air force newspaper quoted Israeli pilots taking part in supporting forces loyal to the Imamate regime in Yemen during the battles that the Yemeni revolutionaries forces, supported by Egyptian forces, against the royal troops in the sixties of last century.

The newspaper lately said the Israeli air force had carried out a number of air sorties over Yemen during which it dropped weapons and ammunition to the forces of the Imam al-Badr in an operation dubbed ‘Sauce’.

The newspaper disclosed that the Israeli has then carried out 14 air sorties dropping arms, military ammunition and food and medical supplies to help troops supporting Imam al-Badr, the last Imams of Yemen in his war against the Yemeni revolution forces who were backed by Egyptian troops. The paper has also disclosed secret documents and photos of some Israeli pilots in addition publishing photos of some of those who it described as loyal to the Imam carrying Israeli weapons.

The commander f the squadron of international tasks in the Israeli air force in 1964 said commander of Israeli air force at that time asked him to carry out dropping of supplies in Yemen and he immediately replied that there was no problem I that. After trainings for some months the first air force plane took off carrying many military supplies and was dropped from air in support of the forces of Imam al-Badr. After the confidence the pilots gained they were forced to sign a pledge not to talk about the operation all their lives and after the first air drop operation air sorties continued and dropped much amounts of ammunition.

According to al-Jazeera correspondent in Al-Quds he said Israel had then viewed that fighting the Egyptian forces in Yemen would exhaust the military capability of the regime of president Jamal Abdul Nasser and could contribute to exhaust the Egyptian army and precludes its launching a war on Israel.

The correspondent adds that at that point the relation between Israel and the regime of Imam al-Badr had begun via mediation of a group of British commando officers.
