Meanwhile, representative of the attorney general Abdul-Hamid Al-Zurqa replied to the Child Parliament members' questions about some child abuse cases. The cases of Sawasen and Abdul-Qader have been referred to court, and the man who abducted Hanan has been sentenced to two years in prison and fined 400,000 riayls, Al-Zurqa noted.
Child Parliament members concluded their current session, and the specialized committee came up with recommendations on the field of health, education, human rights, media, and culture. The recommendations asked to upgrade laws, punish anyone who circumcises females, decrease early marriage practices, make available health teachers in schools, set up a by-law for teacher-student relations, forbid discrimination among students, and establish centers for street children.
The members also demanded that the Parliament amend passage (D) of the article (146) in the law No. (45) for the year 2002, whereby a father can freely punish his child.
