Almotamar.net - Assistant Secretary General of the General People's Congress (GPC) for Political Affairs and External Relations Sultan al-Barakani emphasized the GPC refusal of monoolising the political action and marginalising the officially-recognised political parties in Yemen. he accused the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) of excluding parties of the Opposition National Council , unveiling the formation of a joint committee to study a project of alliance proposed in a meeting on Sunday with the parties of the Council, presided over by the President of the Republic.

Al-Barakani clarified that a meeting would be held on Wednesday with parties of the Opposition National Council on the background of what they have presented of a document for alliance with the GPC at the same time of a document presented by the GPC and they would be considered by a committee set up under chairmanship of the Acting Secretary General of the GPC Abdulrahman al-Akwaa and membership of Qassem Sallam and Nasser al-Nassiri.

Al-Barakani said the document presented by those parties is still under consideration and pointed out that the national interest " forces us that these parties should not be on the margin," refusing to say that it is a counter-alliance to the JMP but the other parties must have a role to benefit from as they are parties ally of the GPC and affirmed that the subject of alliance is something normal among political parties.

In his statement to Nabanews website al-Barakani affirmed that he the GPC is keen to deal with any officially-recognised party because the national issue is the concern of all people and the political action must not be monopolized.

Almotamar Net - Doctors use the word “crisis” to describe the point at which a patient either starts to recover or dies. President George W. Bush’s Iraqi patient now seems to have reached that point. Most commentators appear to think that Bush’s latest prescription – a surge of 20,000 additional troops to suppress the militias in Baghdad – will, at best, merely postpone the inevitable death of his dream of a democratic Iraq. Yet as “Battle of Baghdad” begins, factors beyond Bush’s control and not of his making (at least not intentionally) may just save Iraq from its doom.
