The Islah Party has asked its leaders and activists in Al-Baida governorate to distribute thousands of Saudi riyals among a number of families registered in the election roll in return for voting for the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) candidate, local sources told the motamar.net

Sources added that the Islah Party leader A.M Al-Jerwi in Al-Baida city has asked to grant a 100-Saudi-Riyal amount to each family. Another Islah Party leader in Sabah district visited non-targeted families, which caused the leadership to suspend him.

According to the same sources, the suspended leader was victim to a plan made by some young people who deceived him by saying their families were among the targeted families.

It is worth mentioning that the Islah Party has announced it allocated 15 billion riyals to finance the campaign carried by the JMP. According to media sources, such an amount was collected from trading companies and investments- such as Sabafon GSM, Islamic Bank of Saba- that belong to Islah Party leaders. They also collected money from other investments in real estate, medicines, money exchange, in addition to the charitable associations and donation campaigns in mosques.

JMP presidential candidate Faisal Bin Shamlan revealed that he had received requests from leaders in the JMP to send letters under his signature to tradesmen abroad to ask them for financial aids for his campaign.

Bin Shamlan said he refused to send such letters, adding "We agreed that a candidate can send personal letters." But at the same time Bin Shamlan affirmed he doesn't know whether JMP's leaders have done something in this regard.

Meanwhile, Bin Shamlan affirmed he doesn't know about the negotiations between Yaseen Saeed Noman, Secretary General of the Socialist Party, and officials in the United Arab Emirates to support Bin Shamlan's campaign. The money and support which Noman would raise may come from non-official relations like businessmen, but not from official authorities, Bin Shamlan noted.

According to Bin Shamlan, the 25-million-riayl amount to run his campaign is not enough. In an interview published on Elaph website, he said they would increase such an amount. He even didn't rule out the possibility of sending letters to tradesmen and opening a donation account to support his campaign when the need arises.

The Supreme Commission for Elections and Referendum (SCER) has on Thursday asked the presidential candidates to open banking accounts to which the SCER can send money in support of their campaigns. This way the SCER can monitor their accounts according to article 75 of the election law, almithaq.net reported.
