The participants in the workshop held on 20-22 of August also called on the political parties and organisations for the adoption of programs aimed at changing the society's view towards the woman. They also demanded introduction of legal amendments defining the legal age of marriage for the girl and formation of committees supporting the issues of the woman at different facilities of work and production, preparation of a strategy for fighting illiteracy among women and the increase in opening classes for illiteracy eradication and building schools for girls especially in the rural areas. The participants also called for intensification of programmes for dissemination of awareness about reproductive health, building a database clarifying the reality of the woman, improving the conditions of woman prisoners and their rehabilitation in the manner guaranteeing their qualification practically after leaving prison.

Almotamar Net - Doctors use the word “crisis” to describe the point at which a patient either starts to recover or dies. President George W. Bush’s Iraqi patient now seems to have reached that point. Most commentators appear to think that Bush’s latest prescription – a surge of 20,000 additional troops to suppress the militias in Baghdad – will, at best, merely postpone the inevitable death of his dream of a democratic Iraq. Yet as “Battle of Baghdad” begins, factors beyond Bush’s control and not of his making (at least not intentionally) may just save Iraq from its doom.
