Brigadier Abdu Rabbu al-Huleisi, head of al-Jawf Security Department, affirmed security authorities decided to ban possessing and carrying arms inside governmental institutes as well as to cancel previous arms licenses, regardless of their sources.
This decision came after 24 hours from the date of a shooting incident that occurred in the supervisory committee, where three people were killed and 7 injured, among them three are soldiers.
Six people have been detained for investigations in this regard, al-Huleisi added without giving more details about the incident.
An official source at the General People's Congress (GPC) denied that one of its candidates for local elections was killed on Thursday in al-Jawf governorate. The source regretted such behaviors that don't comply with the principles democracy and elections.
By this crime, the Islah Party wanted to implement its previous threats to render Yemen a second Somalia and inflame riot in the country, thus challenging the law, the source noted.
Additionally, the source called on all political forces, people and security and judiciary authorities to provide protection both for citizens and election process.
The source also wondered how the head of the supervisory committee, who belongs to the Islah Party, changed the committee into a barracks. He called on GPC members in al-Jawf governorate to be patient and rational, and to be careful to come over such plans that aim at rendering peace and stability riot. He also called the GPC members to go to security authorities in order to follow up the investigations of this case.
