Almotamar.net - Official spokesman for the government of Yemen Hussein al-Lawzi revealed on Tuesday that Yemen would send to court 33 Somali pirates in the next few days.

In a press conference he held today following the cabinet weekly meeting today al-Lawzi said that Yemen received 22 pirates from international forces while Yemeni navy forces have arrested other 11 pirates in an operation lately.
He added that the cabinet discussed a report presented by the minister of interior Mutahar Rashad al-Masri on Yemen’s efforts in combating piracy especially pertaining the regional centre for fighting piracy, reviewing the p [operation carried out by Yemeni navy in cooperation with coast guard troops that succeeded in recovering a Yemeni ship and the capturing of 11 pirates, killing two others as well as the injury of a number of the ship crew.

The spokesman has also affirmed that the operation of liberating the ship from the pirates has deserved praise and appreciation and taught the pirates a bitter lesson. He asserted that Yemen would not be lenient in confrontation with pirates and would confront them strongly and that there is coordination and cooperation with all countries of the region for combating pirates in the Gulf of Aden.

On the riot events that took place in Mukalla on Monday the government spokesman said they were limited acts and many of the involved in riots were arrested. Prosecution is conducting investigation with the accused persons amounting g to 51 and those proved of their involvement would be referred to judiciary for receiving just punishment.
He said there are branch conferences of the local authority, with participation of social and civil organisations for dealing with the situations in areas of Lahj and Abyan in accordance with the law.
He stressed that the government would not be easy with outlaw elements and would confront all conspiratorial projects trying to impinge on the Yemeni unity, whether those inside or outside.
In reply to a question by almotamar.net on reports mentioned about approval of the government raising prices of oil products according to higher directives, the spokesman denied categorically the correctness of what was reported by some newspapers that intend purposely to misleading and exaggeration.
