Almotamar.net - Head of Foreign Affairs and international Cooperation, the member of the General People’s Congress GPC General Secretariat Mohammed Abdulmajid Qubati has on Tuesday highlighted the GPC keenness on success of the dialogue in accordance to the agreement on extension of parliament term and postponement of elections signed by the political parties represented in parliament last February.
That came in his meeting on Tuesday with senior of officials at the political and economic department in Washington embassy in Yemen and the political official at the embassy.
Qubati confirmed the GPC’s keenness on developing relations of cooperation and presented a brief explanation on issues of the dialogue that is supposed to have started between the parties signatory on agreement of extending the parliament tenure and postponement of the parliamentary elections, related to develop the Yemeni political system. He pointed out that the topics of the dialogue are in line with points of the initiative presented by President Ali Abdullah Saleh in 2007 on constitutional amendments, political reforms, full-powered local rule and development of the Yemeni electoral system for the enhancement of democracy.
For their parts the American diplomats emphasised the importance of starting the awaited dialogue between the political parties represented in the parliament in the manner contributing to strengthen the political evolvement and stability in Yemen, affirming that it is basically associated with security and stability of the area and the region in this significant part of the world.
The meeting also discussed bilateral relations and exchange of viewpoints on ways of developing the relations between the two sides.
In the same context the official spokesman of the Yemeni government , the minister of information Hassan al-Lawzi revealed in his press conference on Tuesday the setting up of a joint committee from the ruling General People’s Congress and the Joint Meeting parties.
The spokesman said the committee was studying the required amendments in order to prepare atmospheres for carrying out the free electoral right on its defined time in accordance with the agreement among the two sides.
