Almotamar.net - The Higher Committee for Aviation Incidents in Yemen said Wednesday that sea divers of Special Forces are this evening heading for Moroni to take part in operations of search and rescue of the passengers of the crashed Yemeni airliner that crashed offshore the Comoros early Tuesday in the first aviation incident in the history of Yemeni Airways.
In a news conference he held this evening the spokesman for the Committee Mohammed Abdulrahman Abdulqadir pointed out the sanding also of an additional technical team to participate in the investigations into complications of the plane crash in the Indian Ocean with 153 passengers on board amidst stormy weather conditions. The spokesman announced nationalities of the 153 passengers as 75 Comorians, 65 French, one Canadian and one Palestinian in addition to the 11-member crew of the plane.
Abdulqadir also said there are at present French and American aircraft taking part in search and rescue operations. He said also that the Yemeni team present in Moroni visited today the medical evacuation complex set up by the field teams for rescue on the beach.
He has also confirmed there is no confirmation of any new survivors and the only survivor so far is the 14 years old French girl.
