Almotamar.net, Saba - Spokesman for the Higher Committee of Aviation Incidents follow-up Mohammed Abdulrhman has said the American team of searchers for the wreckage of the Yemenia aircraft which came down in bad weather on Tuesday in the Indian Ocean have located Saturday a large piece of the airplane and brought it up to Comoros capital Moroni’s shores.
The piece has been seen floating on water.
The spokesman added that the team was conducting examination and inspection to learn about causes of the plane crash.
Earlier, the committee said some pieces of the aircraft were picked up off Moroni, capital of Comoros.
The spokesman added that searching teams were continuing in operations of search and rescue and the French team have introduced modern equipment for search. He said the Yemenia Airways Company set telephone members and emails for communicating with families of the victims with the aim of helping them and following up procedures of compensations for those families.
The Yemenia Flight IY 626 crashed in the ocean on Tuesday morning with 153 passengers and crew members aboard.
Only a French teenager survived the tragedy, with few bodies recovered so far.
