By:almotamar.net - MARIB: The General People's Congress (GPC)'s presidential candidate, Ali Abdullah Saleh, affirmed Sunday the future task is to eradicate poverty, corruption and find job opportunities for youths.
Below is Saleh's speech delivered Sunday in Marib governorate:
Dear people of Marib governorate,
The sons of civilization, of Shoura and Democracy, of Sheba Kingdom,
Greetings,
Democracy and Shoura have sprung from this historic city, the land of Sheba and Himiar.
I would like to thank the Sheikhs, leading personalities, religious scholars, youths, educated, and politicians of this brave governorate for their positive role during fighting the elements of riot in this area. We shall not also forget the great role of the people of Marib when they rushed to defend the unification during secession war of 1994. They joined the legislature forces to maintain the unification. Hail you, the people of Marib, with your noble and honest stances during hard times.
During misfortune, you supported the legislature forces. Today, we are talking about the future, not past. In the past, we used to dream of reunifying the country. And, thanks Allah, and the support of all honest and sincere people, the dream came true and we achieved the unification on 22 May. It is a gigantic accomplishment.
We have all struggled for development, which now exists by virtue of this generous governorate, in which boons and wealth flow. It is the governorate of good and grant, not only on the part of its men, but also its lands. We greet this brave governorate and everything in it.
We have overcome many obstacles, but our task in future is to combat poverty and find job opportunities for youths in all fields to perform their duties.
Our task in the leadership is to eradicate poverty, corruption and corrupt people who plundered companies and foundations, and now they want to rush upon the rest to be added to the funds they have already plundered.
As we resisted the secession forces, so we will grapple with the corrupt people. Ali Abdullah Saleh will not be an umbrella for any corrupt figure at all in the state's constitutions.
