Almotamar.net - Yemen and France have signed in first initials agreement in Sana’a on Monday of an amount of 37 million euro on the project of the service of rural areas electricity (PASER).
The agreement was signed for the Yemeni side by Deputy Premier for Economic affairs, the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Abdul –Karim Ismael al-Arhabi and for the French side by the French ambassador to Sana’a Joseph Silva and Director of the French Agency for Development (AFD).
A press statement distributed after the signing, obtained by almotamar.net, mentioned that the project jointly funded by the World Bank and the Islamic Bank for Development, is aimed to improve ways of having electricity in the rural areas where 20% of familiars would benefit from this service a present.
Minister al-Arhabi said the French support comes as part of the projects agreed on with the French AFD. He drew the attention to the importance of expanding the wallet of AFD to include the economic sectors of priority in the areas of electric energy and agriculture.
Al-Arhabi praised the French government in supporting the development in Yemen and helping the Yemeni government in overcoming the main economic challenges. For his part the French ambassador praised the level of existing cooperation between Yemen and France in the area of electricity that would contribute to improving living circumstances of the countryside inhabitants.

Saudi aggression warplanes have launched more than 49 airstrikes over the past hours on several residential areas across Yemen, a security official said on Sunday.
The airstrikes targeted the areas of Malahiz and Husama in Dhahir district, and areas Thuban, Masahif and Sdad in Bakim district of northern Saada province.
