Almotamar.net - Yemeni Deputy Premier for Economic Affairs , the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Abdul Karim Ismael al-Arhabi revealed on Sunday about holding a new conference for the donors for supporting Yemen in the Saudi capital Riyadh at the beginning of 2011 in coincidence with another meeting of the Yemen friends Group.
In his response to a question by Almotamar.net, al-Arhabi said, that after the signing in Sana’a today on a minutes of the Yemeni-German consultations, the Riyadh meeting would not be just a meeting of the Yemen Friends Group and would not be just a political one but it would rather be accompanying to donors conference, as one of the results of New York meeting recently was the agreement on holding the Riyadh meeting.
Al-Arhabi said in thee donors meeting there would be a display of the 4th five-year plan of 2011 -2015 and consequently there would practically be two meetings; one for the Yemen Friends Group and the other is the donors conference.
The Minister considered the Riyadh conference is of special importance for development efforts and support for Yemen needs in various areas.
The Minister underlined the major role played by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states for supporting development efforts in Yemen. He clarified that the GCC states offered the biggest part of financing the strategic investment programme of the 3rd economic and social development plan 2006-2010 in the donors conference in London, November 2006.
Regarding the Yemeni-German relations, Minister al-Arhabi affirmed they are deep-rooted and firm relations extending to four decades.
