By:almotamar.net - The General People’s Congress (GPC) held today a rally for its presidential candidate Ali Abdullah Saleh in Shabwa governorate. In the rally, Saleh says,
“Dear people of Shabwa governorate,
I greet all of you, men and women, social figures, religious scholars, politicians, and officers.
Peace be upon you.
I greet the people of this heroic governorate, which had played a great role in the 1994 secession war. Shabwa had stood by the legitimate forces; it is the backbone that, along with Abyan governorate, upheld the legitimate state. Its faithful men had a role in fighting apostasy and secession elements.
We are confident that the people of Shabwa will vote for security, stability, moderation, development, not for Left or Right.
Fellow people,
There are moderate elements in the Yemeni Socialist Party (YSP), Islah Party, and other parties, and will vote, along with the masses and General People’s Congress, for moderation, security, stability and development.
In the next years, jobs in the oil companies working in Yemen will be Yemenized by 90 percent. Five technical and vocational institutes will be established in Shabwa, at a total cost of YR 6 billion.
We renew reconciliation in Shabwa and the rest of the Yemeni governorates so that people can work for development and security, and can go to their farms and homes safely. So, we renew the reconciliation, and the local authority has to put it into effect.
Brothers and sisters,
A fund is to be established to help youths get married, to be funded by the government.
People of Shabwa,
I am sure that you will vote for security, stability, development and preserving the Yemeni unification. Yes for moderation, GPC, the party of all people.

GPC’s presidential candidate speech in Shabwa governorate
In 2007 the opposition Yemen Congregation for Reform (Islah) Islamic oriented Party maintained its having political and media sway over the Joint meeting Parties (JMP) block, also consisting of Yemen Socialist Party and the Nasserite Unionist Organisation.
