Almotamar.net - President Ali Abdullah Saleh on Thursday evening made a phone call with chairman of the Yemeni soccer federation and members of the football national team. In the phone conversation the President praised the efforts exerted for the success of Gulf 20 activities which Yemen is hosting and preparation and participation of the national team in the championship and other sport forums with enthusiasm and perseverance.
The President affirmed the necessity of continuing those efforts in the way serving development of the Yemeni football game and encouragement of the Yemeni youth to achieve winning in it in future.
The President said it is not important who is the winner in the games of this important championship which enhances the strong brotherly ties between,” Our people and their brethren in the Gulf Cooperation countries and Iraq, but what matters is what Yemen has achieved of political and moral victory in hosting this championship with great success in organisation, preparation and suitable climates and racing with time as well as masses interactions. The Gulf 20 is really a Gulf challenge for Yemen that is considered the real winner in this sport championship with its political, cultural and social indications.”
The President pointed out that activities of this championship and launching it came amid challenges and rumours which Yemen overcame by virtue of the strong will and determination of the Yemeni people in facing the challenges and victory which has been always displayed , whether in the march of the Yemeni people national struggle and their revolutions of 26 September 1962 and 14 October 1963 and independence on 30 November 1967 and the reunification on 22 May 1990 as well as defending it or what followed that of events and changes the people fought and achieved victory of their free will.
The President valued highly the wonderful national stance of the Yemeni people in the governorates of Aden, Abyan and Lahj and the homeland’s provinces in general and what they embodied of national unity and love of the homeland as well as what they expressed of national interaction , enthusiasm and presence and their standing by their national team and their federation , of activities of their championship and encouraging the beautiful playing and the high morale of all the brother teams participating in the championship of Gulf 20.
In conclusion of his phone conversation, the President wished more success for the Gulf 20.
