By Foreign News Desk - The international NGO “Save the Children” announced that nearly 43 million children are unable to attend school regularly due to ongoing conflicts in their countries.

According to a report prepared by the organization, the countries which have the worst education are those where there are ongoing armed clashes. In a bid to draw attention to this substantial problem, Save the Children launched a new campaign titled “Rewrite the Future.” The campaign will be implemented in 40 countries and aims to help three million children attend school and five million more to have a better education. The organization made a call to world leaders to help these children with their official education and added only two percent of the humanitarian aid going to needy areas constitutes educational equipment. The report criticized first world countries for failing to help war-torn countries solve their educational problems and demanded the international community send $5.8 billion to these countries for their education.

World leaders reached a decision in 2000 through the U.N. Millennium Development Goals to provide all countries in the world with primary education. According to “Save the Children,” such a project will fail if millions of children in dire conditions worldwide are not provided with stable living conditions. The number of women and children killed or wounded in war-torn regions is 80 percent more than other civilians. According to the U.N. Children's Fund (UNICEF) the amount of educational aid reaching these regions is very limited. If it weren’t for further help, donations or political will, some of these millions of children would never have a chance to go to school at any point throughout their lives.
