By: almotamar.net - DHAMAR- Around one million people attended Saturday an election campaign rally for the General People’s Congress (GPC)’s presidential candidate Ali Abdullah Saleh.
In the rally, Saleh addressed the people of Dhamar, thanking them for the great rally.
In his speech, Saleh says,
“ Great public crowd,
Ladies and gentlemen,
Faithful people of Dhamar governorate, you stood by the revolution, offering several martyrs, and defended the unification. We will reciprocate with the same loyalty. I know very well that Dhamar is closed before the burning sun and malicious hearts.
You have heard about the terrorist acts carried out by terrorists of the forces of darkness who went yesterday to al-Dhabah port in Hadhramout governorate and Marib refineries by their booby-trapped vehicles in order to create anarchy amid this democratic motion.
They wanted to destroy oil and gas installations, but security and military forces stopped them and killed those traitorous. We will allocate YR 5 million to anyone that captures a terrorist or offers information on him... they are the enemies of security, stability and development… We heard about the remarks of Pope Benedict XVI on Islam and Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon him). We condemn such remarks and will review our relations with Vatican. The Pope should apologize to the Islamic nation, otherwise we will reconsider our relations with Vatican. I call on the Arab and Islamic nation to reconsider their relations with Vatican. “
Saleh also talked about the September elections and people’s right to vote on the day of elections. He asserted Yemeni people will head on 20 September to polling boxes and vote for a president from among themselves, a president who “ will not be hired”.
