Almotamar.net - Speaker of the Parliament Yahya al-Raei met separately on Wednesday with a number of representatives of the parliaments participating in the 9th session of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States (PUIC) kicked off in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Tuesday.

Al-Raei discussed with the Secretary General of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly Nejad-Hosseinian the possibility of getting benefit of the legal expertise possessed by the Assembly.
For his part, Hosseinian expressed the assembly’s willingness to provide the existing expertise, praising the transformations that Yemen witnesses towards progress and development, particularly in legislation.

Al-Raei also reviewed with the Iranian parliament speaker Ali Larijani the bilateral relations between Yemen and Iran. He stressed on the need to forget the past problems and open up to a new chapter of the bilateral relations, including improving the parliamentary relations and exchanging experiences and visits to expand the economic and commercial activities between the two countries.

For his part, Larijani welcomed the Yemeni parliamentary delegation headed by Al-Raei and said it is a positive and new step to promote cooperation relations between the two countries, praising the speech delivered by the Yemeni delegation in the conference.

The Iranian official stressed the importance of taking further joint steps in counter terrorism and addressing any problems in order to respond to the aspirations of the Yemeni and Iranian peoples.

Al-Raei also reviewed with the Syrian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Lahamthe the bilateral cooperation relations between the two brotherly countries.

He stressed the importance of resolving outstanding issues in Syria through a political solution and settlement.

For his part, the Syrian official expressed his appreciation for the positions of Yemen towards Syria, mentioning the need to consider deeply what is happening in the Arab region and the need for rationality in dealing with the events taking place in the Arab world.

Meanwhile, al-Raei discussed with the Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Cemil Çiçek a number of topics relating to common issues between the parliaments in the two countries.

Al-Raei welcomed Turkish investments in Yemen, which enjoys an important geographical location, as well as facilities and guarantees provided by the Yemeni legislation for all investors.

For his part, Cemil Çiçek stressed on the importance of promoting the cooperation relations between the two countries, including the expansion of economic and commercial activities, stressing the need to activate the activities of the joint committees between the two countries.
