The latest seizure occurred at the Al-Shihr port while the ship, which sailed from Djibouti, was about to unload its smuggled shipment between the towns of Al-Shihr and Al-Hami, said Abdul Rahim Bawazeer, a spokesperson for the Hadramout coastguard.
"Inspectors from the health and agriculture offices checked the cargo onboard the ship and then asked to seize it. The crew was arrested as well," said Bawazeer.
The advanced wireless telecommunication sets, seized on March 28th in Aden, were trafficked onboard a ship coming from Dubai, officials said.
In the past few years, Yemeni authorities have been cracking down on smugglers at key terminals including the Aden and Makha ports who usually traffic arms, pesticides and other products, mostly expired products, as well as humans.
Tens of large ships and boats have been seized and tens of people including foreigners arrested in connection with trafficked shipments mostly coming from African horn countries.
