almotamar.net - Yemen and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have discussed the Programme's support provided to the Local Administration Ministry.
During their meeting, Minister of Local Administration Abdul-Raqib Saif and UNDP Good Governance team leader Edward Christow concentrated the discussions on the support for the state-building project, which aims at enhancing Yemen's future transition, and the Peace and Transition Support Project (PTSP).
The Minister affirmed the importance to prepare a common framework between the Programme and the concerned government bodies, including the Ministry, to determine the work priorities of the state-building project.
Saif said that the Peace and Transition Support Project moves very well, especially after forming a training team to build the administrative cadres' capacities in different areas, which has trained 364 cadres in 13 districts of four governorates.
For his part, the UNDP official said that the state-building project is based on two components, the first is the Federalism and Decentralization, while the second is building the human and institutional capacities and restructuring the government bodies at the levels of region, governorate and districts.
Christow said that the restructuring process should include the all governmental bodies to enhance their capacities in order to enhance their performance in accordance with the new system.
