By: almotamar.net - SANA'A - The activities of the Second Hymn Festival are going to be launched at 10:00 p.m. tonight at the open air theater in the Old City of Sana'a. The festival is organized by the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with a number of local hymn performing societies.
This year's festival includes more than two hundred performers in 16 bands coming from all provinces.
"This year's festival activities bear national, social and cultural characteristics reflecting the rich hymn performance tradition of Yemeni areas and highlighting the rich heritage of particular areas," Minister of Culture Khaled Al-Rowaishan told almotamar.net.
With the festival extending over five nights, the participants are going to perform hymns and anthems with new tunes and melodies and tackle recent democratic and national anniversaries in order to reflect a civilized political image of Yemen as well as the Ramadan atmosphere in the country.
At the end of his statement, Al-Rowaishan wished the festival to enrich Ramadan nights and add flavor to national and election ceremonies.
The festival will open on a number of hymns from Hadhramout province performed tonight by a number of local bands. Other nights will feature a collection of hymn performances from various Yemeni provinces like Marib, Hajjah, Ibb, Hodeidah, Taiz, the Capital City and Mahweet.
The Yemen Satellite Channel is going to air a live show of the inauguration night.
