By: Jamil al-Jadabi (almotamar.net) - SANA�A- The final results of the local council elections will be announced officially on Monday via official media, said Abdu al-Janadi, head of Information Sector at the Supreme Commission for Elections and Referendum (SCER).
In a statement to almotamar.net, al-Janadi said, �The SCER members have unanimously agreed the final results are to be announced on Monday.�
The SCER agreed in a meeting held last Monday the final results will be announced only after receiving and collecting all the minutes and final reports from the observatory and main committees.
The SCER also asked its Legal and Social affairs sectors as well as the main communication center to follow up the field committees and help complete the final minutes and reports.
The SCER made it clear it postponed the announcement of the final results due to some difficulties and problems hindering the arrival of the final vote-counting minutes from the main and observatory committees.
1,612 candidates vied for 431 seats in the local councils at the level of governorates and 18,901 candidates vied for 6,896 seats at the level of districts.
Local and international observer participated in monitoring the September elections. There were more than 45,000 local observers, and 400 international observers who represented more than 15 organizations.
