almotamar.net - Deputy Chairman of the ex3cutive committee of the Joint Meeting Parties Mohammed al-Sabri said the opposition is collectively studying a united stand concerning the president of the republic’s announcement about electing governors and heads of the districts by members of the elected local authority and also his talk about opening a new chapter with the JMP and opposition parties.

Al-Sabri affirmed that a meeting was expected Saturday by the leadership of the JMP to discuss the president’s statements and to announce a clear stand towards them.

On the other hand a source at the Local Administration office told saba.net Saturday the government is discussing a mechanism for the implementation of the president’s announcement regarding election of governors and heads of districts by members of elected local authority and the mechanism is expected to be announced this week.
President Ali Abdullah Saleh announced Friday about election of governors and head of districts and secretaries general of local councils by members of elected local authority and the beginning of a new chapter with parties of the JMP and other opposition parties. The president’s announcement came just two weeks after presidential and local elections held on 20th of September.
