By: almotamar.net - SANA'A- An official source at the General People's Congress (GPC) expressed wonder at statements ascribed to the Yemeni Socialist Party secretary-general on discussing the issue of electing governors and heads of districts.
Issues like this are to be discussed at the Parliament and not at qat sessions, the source added.
The source pointed out that the announcement of President Ali Abdullah Saleh on electing governors and heads of districts is part of his electoral platform in accordance with which he won people's confidence as president. The source also expressed wonder at the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP)'s insistence on intruding into issues that were decided by the people on 20 September. "But at the same time we understand the psychological motives of those who couldn't catch the train and now are looking for a role to play," he noted.
The source made it clear that the JMP bloc has nothing to do other than deterring any reforms that aim to improve the democratic experience, which it couldn't achieve especially as it has become in the middle of the road, a place where it will stay too long.
The source advised the JMP to search for a mechanism by which it can build good relations with people.
