almotamar.net - SANAA- A judicial source said Monday that presidential directives have been issued accepting the release of 562 prisoners who have spent three quarters of their sentences, among them 375 insolvent prisoners from 11 Yemeni governorates. The presidential directives were depending on reports submitted by committees branched from the Higher Committee of prisons chaired by Judge Issam al-Sammawi, Chairman of the Higher Judicial Council, following field visits by the committees to prisons in the governorates inspecting conditions of prisons and prisoners.
The source added the remaining governorates are still waiting for finishing reports on prisoners in their prisons.
The acceptance of prisoners release was given to 130 prisoners from Thamar, 99 from Taiz, 70 from Aden, 66 from Hudeidah, 32 from Hajjah, among them 9 foreigners who entered the country illegally, 32 from Lahj, 30 from Amran, 28 from Hadramout, 27 from Abyan, 18 from Shabwa and 16 from Saadah.
It is to be recalled that every Ramadan there is a presidency pardon issued for the release of hundreds of prisoners from those who have spent three quarters of their sentence periods, among them insolvents who the state pays part of their indebtedness as well as donations from philanthropists.
