By: almotamar.net - SANA�A- Minister of Information Hassan al-Lawzi chaired a meeting of the officials in the ministry and Television and Radio General Corporation to discuss the directives of President Ali Abdullah Saleh to establish the second Yemen Satellite Channel.
Participants discussed the ways of implementing the directives of President Saleh to establish a satellite channel that would reflect the civilized and democratic aspects of Yemen in a new manner. The channel would focus on the cultural development, innovation, national and Arabic heritage, democracy, Shoura, opinion and counter-opinion, the activities of the civil society organizations, tourism, and youths.
During their meetings, participants also discussed the ideas of the ministry and its information corporations about implementing President Saleh�s electoral platform with regard to obligations and responsibilities of the Ministry of Information to work towards enhancing and ensuring freedom of expression, publication and distribution as well as approving the new pres law. They also discussed the way of enhancing the role of official and partisan media, in addition to the legislatures that ensure the establishment of satellite channels and radio stations. They referred to the law of using the internet for public purposes and electronic press
