(Yemen Observer)- - The commerce and industry office in Sana�a governorate has arrested 283 merchants who were fraudulently changing the prices and weights of their products and swindling customers, the office said. They also they remitted 83 merchants to the public prosecution.

The supervisory committee was able to arrest those violators because they did not comply with the laws designed to stabilize prices, and raised them without any cause, said Abdul-Baset al-Qumim, the general manager of commerce and industry office in Sana�a governorate. They arrested merchants in a field tour through the markets of Sanhan, Bani Bahlol, Bani Matar, Hamdan, Bani Husheish, Manakha, and Haraz provinces.

Al-Qumim confirmed that the office is working on intensifying its monitoring of all shops and trade markets, to make sure merchants are following prime council instructions that include keeping prices fixed throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
