Almotamar Net - The European Commission will be providing Yemen ministry of human rights 2 million euro in assitance to help in activating its plans to protect and promote human rights and democratization more effectively.

Although Yemen is classified as one of the 49 latest development countries with close to 50% of the population under the absolute poverty line and
a pattern of gender differences, the country has set goals for its own transformation in accordance with the Sana'a declaration, and the strategic
vision 2025.

The European Union is providing a 2 million Euro assistance package under the national indicative program (NIP), agreed with Yemen. One of the priorities of NIP is to strengthen democracy and political pluralism.

The funding covers three areas, strengthening the capacity of Yemen's ministry of human rights , developing effective consultation mechanisms
between human rights NGOs and government institutions, and providing technical and financial assistance to NGOs.

The EU has consistently placed great importance in the protection and promotion of political pluralism and democracy and Yemen has advanced
these areas as one of its priorities.
