The general assembly of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) on Tuesday elected Yemeni News Agency (Saba)to be a member in the federation's general secretariat.

The move came in recognition to Saba's significant standing among the Arab agencies and its role in activating the federation.

The decision was made at the conclusion of 33rd meeting of FANA's
general assembly in the Kuwaiti capital, Kuwait City.

In their meeting, heads of Arab news agencies highlighted the need fordrawing up plans for training staffers of those agencies to enhance their performance.

Saba's Chairman and Editor-in-Chief, Nasr Taha Mustafa, represented Yemen to the meeting.
