By: almotamar.net - TAIZ- President Ali Abdullah Saleh on Monday issued orders to establish a college for jurisprudence science in the Taiz-based al-Janad mosque.
In his address after al-Eid prayer in al-Janad mosque, Saleh talked about the historic role of al-Janad mosque. He also referred to the pitiful crisis during the secession war of 1994. "I remember the deplorable crisis the country witnessed years after the unification and ended in the session war in 1994," he said, "The victory came from this mosque when religious scholars, politicians and cultured gathered here and announced, at the time, the million-people march to Aden governorate, where we raised the flag of the Republic of Yemen on 22 May, 1990. That gathering and address in al-Janad mosque represented the door to victory."
Saleh affirmed a college for jurisprudence science is to be established at al-Janad mosque as it "had played intellectual and enlightenment roles over various phases in Yemen's history.
According to Saleh, the prayer of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha in al-Janad mosque is to be televised live every year.
