almotamar.net - SANAA-General People�s Congress (GPC0�s candidates have won the post of secretaries general of local councils in majority of the Yemeni governorates while the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) got one post in the governorate of Dhalie. Primary news reports mentioned the victory of the GPC candidates in the governorates of Hadramout, Thamar, Mahweet, Ibb and Taiz.

Meanwhile, a candidate of the opposition party Islah has won the post of secretary general of the local council of the governorate of al-Dhalie.
Six thousand and 517 local council members are competing today Wednesday for the post of secretary general if 327 district local councils and 20 governorate local councils while 1041 members are contesting for chairmanship of specialized committees.
The Supreme Commission for Election and Referendum had earlier announced the victory of the GPC by majority in the local elections held in Yemen on 20th of last September.
